Influenza C in Japan.

چکیده
The name•ginfluenza C •hhas first been given by Francis and his colleagues to a case of influenza in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1950, from which theyy isolated an influenza-like virus strain JJ, different, however, antigenically from any known type of influenza virus.) The Ann Arbor workers are, however, not the first discoverers of this type of virus. In 1947, Taylor2) isolated a strain of virus called 1233 which was found identical with the JJ strain later by Ann Arbor workers. Taylor did not conclude that this virus might have any importance in

Isolation and characterization of influenza C viruses in the Philippines and Japan.
From November 2009 to December 2013 in the Philippines, 15 influenza C viruses were isolated, using MDCK cells, from specimens obtained from children with severe pneumonia and influenza-like illness (ILI). This is the first report of influenza C virus isolation in the Philippines. In addition, from January 2008 to December 2013, 7 influenza C viruses were isolated from specimens that were obtai...
متن کاملGenetic characterisation of influenza C viruses detected in Singapore in 2006
In an earlier study on respiratory infections in Singapore military recruits, four influenza C virus (FLUCV) infections were detected out of the 1354 samples collected. All four isolates were detected in 2006, and their whole genome was completely sequenced and analysed. Phylogenetic analysis of the hemagglutinin esterase fusion (HEF) gene revealed that all four Singapore isolates belonged to t...
متن کاملNeuraminidase gene sequence analysis of avian influenza H9N2 viruses isolated from Iran
Influenza A viruses possesses two virion surface glycoproteins including haemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). The NA plays an important role in viral replication and promotes virus release from infected cells and facilitates virus spread throughout the body. To find out any genomic changes that might be occurred on NA gene of avian influenza circulating viruses, we have genetically analy...
متن کاملOptimizing the process of inactivating influenza virus subtype H9N2 by formalin in the production of killed avian influenza vaccine
Avian influenza is one of the most important diseases in avian industry, which also threats human population. Thus, vaccination is necessary for controlling this viral disease. In this study, killed vaccine of avian influenza subtype H9N2 and formalin solution (for virus inactivation) were used. It is necessary to study the effect of different factors such as formalin concentration, as well as ...
متن کاملعفونت ویروس آنفلوانزای C در انسان: اولین بررسی سرواپیدمیولوژیک در ایران
This is a report of the first serological survey of influenza C virus in Iran, performed during a one year period (March 1997-May 1998). This study was accomplished in the National Influenza Center-Division of Virology in Tehran University of Medical Scinces. 1080 samples of serum (689 samples from Tehran and 391 samples from other provinces) were assayed for the presence of antibodies against ...
متن کاملA Sensitive Neutralization Assay for Influenza C Viruses Based on the Acetylesterase Activity HEF Glycoprotein
Influenza C virus possesses specific neuraminate-O-acetylesterase as a receptor-destroying function. This enzymatic activity of the viral glycoprotein HEF (Hemagglutinin, esterase activity and fusion factor) can be visualized in situ by the use of distinct color substrates. Hereby the localization, as well as the quantity of synthesized HEF protein is detectable. We further developed the estera...
